Engineering drawing recognition with AI
A drawing that turns into a quote
We train the system to read your drawings, nameplates and gauges. It finds parts, dimensions, material and readings, while the maths is done by code and your own rules. Anything read with low confidence goes to a person.
Quoting from a drawing takes half a day and meter readings are retyped by hand?
Today a process engineer opens a PDF, copies parts, operations and dimensions into Excel and spends half a day working out blanks to quote a price. A field worker photographs meters and pressure gauges, and in the evening someone in the office types the numbers into a spreadsheet. The system takes over the reading: parts, dimensions, material and operations from a drawing; readings and serial numbers from a photo. The calculation is done by code using your norms and rates, not by the neural network, so every result can be reproduced and checked by an engineer. When a scan lacks data or a value is hard to read, the system asks a person instead of guessing. We went down this road building Costbl, a service that costs metal products from drawings. Ordinary document scans such as invoices, delivery acts and explanatory notes are handled by our AI agents, a separate direction. Pilot from RUB 500,000; beyond that, cost depends on the task and hours and is estimated within 1–2 days.
Sound familiar?
- A process engineer spends half a day on a drawing to quote a price
- Costing lives in Excel and in the head of one senior engineer
- Field staff photograph meters, then the office retypes the numbers
- Serial numbers from nameplates are typed by hand, typos included
What changes after launch
- Customers get a price without hours of manual drawing review
- Every engineer gets the same costing, and it can be checked
- Readings and serial numbers reach your systems without retyping

Which of these is happening to you?
Pick the situation that hurts most. Next, we show how companies of your size solve it.
- Drawing recognition and costingDo customers wait a week for a price because drawings are costed by hand?PDF or scanned drawing → parts, dimensions, material and operations → unit cost, quote and specification.
- A first estimate is ready while the customer is still waiting
- Costing no longer depends on which engineer is in today
- Quotes and specs come from the same calculation, no retyping
- Meter readings and nameplates from photosField staff photograph meters, then the office retypes the numbers?A photo of a meter, gauge or nameplate → reading and serial number in your system, with suspicious values flagged.
- Readings reach your system on the day of the round, not at month end
- An odd value shows up at once, while it can still be rechecked on site
- Equipment serial numbers are recorded without typos
Other areas
- On-site video analyticsModels watch your cameras 24/7: line downtime, defects, PPE and danger zones, warehouse flows, checkout queues.
- Photo-based quality controlAn employee photographs an item, a delivery or a shelf, and the model marks defects, discrepancies and display issues.
- Vehicles and perimeterCameras read plates at the gate and the weighbridge and spot people along the perimeter where they should not be.
Not sure the cameras will see it?
Send a couple of minutes of footage or a dozen photos. We will tell you what the model will recognise reliably, what it will not and what hardware you need. Estimate in 1–2 days.
